Viking Venus Shell Necklace
Apis ancient bronze handmade Viking Venus Shell Necklace
The scallop shell is associated with Venus, goddess of love. "Born of the sea”, she was carried on a scallop shell, being blown to shore by Zephyr, god of the west wind. The Old Norse feminine víking (as in the phrase fara í víking) may originally have been a long-distance sea journey characterised by the shifting of rowers. Found on the island of Silhouette in the Seychelles, this shell represents the importance of travel and expanding your horizons.
Both padlocks are cast from beeswax. One is rolled on a piece of coral, creating its subtle texture and the other is moulded and holds our logo, the symbol of an ancient bee. Bees are bringers of good luck and prosperity, their beeswax and honey, golden charms of productivity. This necklace is a representation of the divine feminine and when worn is a reminder to let go and not fight the winds of change because they may lead you to something magical.
