Apis ancient bronze handmade Aristotle's Lantern Cuff with Sand Dollar
Sand dollars have a centrally located mouth on its underside which is a complicated arrangement of five teeth called Aristotle's Lantern, used for scraping algae and other organic food from under the sand. The name was inspired by horn lanterns which were made for centuries and had five sides, made from thin pieces of horn thin enough to let the light shine though, but protected the candle from being blown out by the wind. This cuff will shine a light in times of darkness and help you see.
All our pieces are made to order and hand-forged in our Cape Town studio. Please allow 2-4 weeks for Apis Atelier to create your unique modern heirloom.
